Join Troop 828 on a wilderness canoe trek!

Sign up by August 18, 2008 with a $50 non-refundable deposit 

This is to announce we will make reservations for two crews for a ten-day trek beginning one of these dates: July 1, 2, or 3, 2009. Crew size can be from 6 to 11 for each trek.  We are looking at the Ely, Minnesota to Atikokan , Ontario trek of 90 miles.  With two crews, we can have one start at Ely and the other at Atikokan.  In this arrangement, our ground shuttle arrangement at the beginning and end of the trip is optimized. 

The canoe base cost is $50-$52 per person per day.  This includes full outfitting by the base.  We will anticipate $500 for air and ground transportation.  There will be another $200 for additional fees (remote border crossing, Canadian camping fees) and incidentals.  Total cost should be about $1200 per person.  Participants must be 13 by the start date of the trek.  We must have at least two adults per crew.  The canoe base will provide a staff member, known as an interpreter, who will travel with each crew on the trek.   

If you have interest, please sign up by August 18 with a $50 non-refundable deposit for each boy and adult as we must make a $300 nonrefundable deposit per crew within three weeks of making our reservation.  Additional crew payments to Northern Tier will occur October 1 ($1000) and March 1 (balance). You can leave your check with Candy Bourgeois at the August 4th meeting, or Vickie Bolen at the August 11th or 18th meetings.
