El Rancho Cima Adventure Campout
- This campout, focused on those with more than a year of troop experience, will
see us visit Sam Houston Area Council's Hill Country summer camp facility.. The
camp is about twenty miles west of San Marcos and a little over a three-hour
ride from here. Whether you have remaining Pioneering, Orienteering, and/or
Camping MB requirements (from Camp Daniel Boone) or First Class requirement
needs or neither of these, plan now to sign up for an activity-filled,
advancement-oriented, and fun weekend!
When:
February 17-19, 2006
Where:
El Rancho Cima, 20 miles west of San Marcos, TX (about 190 miles from Sugar
Land).
Directions:
El Rancho Cima is located approximately 188 miles
west of Houston. Take I-10 to Luling and Highway 80 to San Marcos. From San
Marcos, take Ranch Road 12 ten miles west to the intersection of Ranch Road 12
and 32. Continue west on Ranch Road 32 for five miles. El Rancho Cima's gate
will be on the right at the bottom of the hill just past the Devil's Backbone
rest area. Continue on the entrance road and go left at the Ranger's house. Turn
left at the Horseshoe Bend sign.
Who attends:
Scouts with a year or more experience in the troop. Senior Patrol Leader,
Assistant Senior Patrol Leaders, other troop leaders, and Scouts needing to
fulfill requirements for First Class ranks and remaining requirements for
Camping, Pioneering, and/or Orienteering MB's.
Charlie Harbin and Sean Carey will be the tour
and assistant tour leaders on the trip.
We need more adults for transportation, help with
the campout events, and one to pull the trailer!!!
