Spring Camporee 2005
THE GAMES OF SCOUTING -
FUN WITH A PURPOSE
This District camping activity is designed to give new scouts as well as
seasoned scouts an opportunity to experience the traditional values of
scouting as well as enjoy a challenge. This weekend we will have activities
that focus on traditional scout skills required for first class, along with
camping, training and fun. In addition to the events during the day, we will
also have a cooking competition Saturday evening.
The camporee will be held at Camp Bovay near Navasota.
Through recreation, Scouting achieves its purpose of helping young people
develop physically, intellectually, socially, and spiritually. Scouting is
all about building confidence and self-esteem, learning important life
skills and leadership skills, team building, outdoor adventure, education,
and fun!
"Scouting is not an abstruse or difficult science: rather it is a jolly
game" - Baden-Powell
The evening program will be a campfire as well as Order of the Arrow (OA)
callout for those scouts elected within their troop.
