SWIMMING MERIT BADGE
By: Mr. Rankin (April 3, 2004)
Swimming Merit Badge Class and Rank Advancement Swimming Test - The class
for all the swimming requirements will begin on Wednesday April 7 and continue
for the next three Wednesdays at the Sweetwater Country Club indoor pool
facility. There is a $3.00 per session charge for the class. The class will
meet at 5:30 and last approximately 2 hours per session, depending on the class
size. The requirements for each rank should be reviewed in the handbook prior
to the first meeting. The merit badge requirements can be found either from the
merit badge book found at the Scout shop or from the internet. The requirements
found in the book will take precedence over any found on the internet. Shoes or
sandals are to be worn to and from the parking lot and don't forget to bring a
towel! This not a free swim, siblings who attend with parents will not be
allowed to swim. Some parental help will be needed. Sign up for scouts and
parent help will be at the troop meeting on Monday night 4-5-04, see Mr. Hotze
at the meeting.
Archival info:
Scouts must attend all sessions to get the merit badge. Scouts should wear a swim suit, a T-shirt, and shoes that can get wet. Bring a towel and (optionally) goggles.
This is a great badge to get, especially if you're going to summer camp. It is one of the Eagle-required merit badges.
Four Wednesday afternoon sessions are planned: April 7, 14, 21, and 28.
Details about time, place, and cost will be posted here when they are available.
