WINTER CAMP UPDATE from Mr. Culp (December 11,2003):
WINTER CAMP TROOP MEETING:
When: Sunday December 14th: 2:30pm-5:30pm or
Friday Dec. 12th 6:30 to 10:00
What: Prerequisite Day for Winter Camp
Where: TBD
Who: All attendees for winter camp. Note: some
boys already have all their prerequisites done. I would like to have those boys
assist or mentor other boys in the process.
HELP: I need as many adults as can be there to help these boys with prerequisites. We need to attend a council meeting for either City of Sugar Land or Fort Bend County Court for those doing the Citizenship in the Community. They also need to write letters. We may want to do these meetings before the prerequisite day so that the boys can write letters.
This will be a good opportunity for adults to ask questions, get more information.
Winter Camp at Camp Strake is a great opportunity to earn merit badges. Usually over 70 merit badge classes are offered. All scouts are encouraged to attend. It's almost more fun than summer camp, and considerably cooler.
Medication form (PDF) for winter camp.
Troop roster for winter camp: roster.
Here are the prerequisites for the various merit badges. If you already have all the prerequisites, and can help another boy meet the requirements that they need, please come to the meeting on Dec. 14. 2:30 - 5:30 at Sugar Land First United Methodist Church on Eldridge Road.
Class II physicals are required, which requires a Doctor Visit: Class 1 and 2 Medical Form (PDF)
Class III physicals are required for all those scouts over 40 going: Class 3 Medical Form (PDF)
Here are the Informed consent form, shirt order form, and media release form.
Mr. Culp says (October 29):
Winter Camp Update
Winter Camp Patrols have been selected. After a quick patrol meeting, patrol leaders, assistant patrol leaders, patrol names were selected. Each patrol developed a patrol cheer. I think they need to work on them, but they should be great. Each patrol was assigned responsibility for doing a troop presentation at the November 10th troop meeting. The Lazy Buccaneers will be discussing Troop Gear required for winter camp. The Plank Walkers will be discussing personal gear. I look forward to hearing these presentations. They should be calling regarding the day and time of the patrol meeting necessary to complete the project.
Winter Camp Troop will be having a merit badge preparation class on Friday Dec. 12 or Sunday Dec. 14 as preparation for the course. Any boys selected to do any of the Citizenship badges will meet after we have the final merit badge selections returned, for setting up attendance at a community meeting, and writing the necessary letters.
