This year's summer camp was at Chimayo Scout Reservation in the mountains of north-central New Mexico, for a week in late June. We got there after a 16-hour ride on a chartered bus, and spent the first day or so getting acclimated to the 7000-foot altitude, which was tough on some. Most of the younger scouts participated in the Baden-Powell Brigade, which was a week-long immersion in the skills needed for the Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class ranks. Most scouts also took two or three merit badge classes. Everyone had a great time camping and hiking and swimming and learning and playing!
