Summer Camp 2003 Equipment list
Equipment to Bring
- Complete BSA Class A uniform (shirt
and belt)- For traveling and during parts of each day
- Shirts – two or three short sleeve (scout T-shirts) and one
long sleeve; preferably scout shirts or scout-themed
shirts---they must be appropriate (no beer advertisements, for
instance)
- Pants – one long pair
- Shorts - two
- Socks
- Travel/comfortable shoes (no open toes)
- Hiking boots or durable shoes
- Underwear
- Swimming suit
- Cap or hat for sun shield
- Jacket, sweatshirt, or sweater
- Stocking cap (especially important for sleeping)
- Gloves for chilly mornings
- Poncho or raincoat (a cheap ($5) one
will do for the week)
- Towel(s)
- Toothpaste and toothbrush
- Toiletries (comb, brush, soap, soap container, shampoo,
etc.)
- Sunscreen
- Lip balm
- Pocket knife
- Flashlight with extra batteries
- Water bottle or equivalent (you can
attach it to belt with carabiner)
- Handkerchief
- Sleeping bag
- Sleeping pad or cot (a cot can be
bought for about $15)
- Day pack (old school backpack works great)
- Pack or duffel bag for gear
- Totin’ Chip
- Firem’ Chit
- Scout book: put a cover on it
(available at the Scout Shop) and enclose it in a ziploc
- Pencil with eraser
- Small notebook (probably a bit bigger
than 2" by 3" is best)
- Personal first aid kit
- Plastic bags to cover gear
- Watch
- Eating utensils and mess kit
- Spending money ($25-$50 dollars, in
small bills, in a standard sized envelope with boy’s name on it)
Optional
- Compass
- Small, foldable three-legged chair
- Insect repellant
- Pillow (A small one is okay on the
bus)
- Pool/shower shoes (shower in these to
avoid athlete's foot)
- Desenex or equivalent in case of athlete's
foot
- Work gloves
- Small personal electronics for bus ride with extra
batteries (name is especially important)
- Clothes-line and clothes-pins; you can wash
socks and shirts and hang them to dry, and not have to carry so many clothes
- Trash bags (to enclose everything in your
duffel bag; also holding for dirty clothes)
- Thermal underwear
Do Not Bring
- Large camp chairs (ok for adults)
- Snacks, food or gum (troop will provide snacks during
transportation)
- Movies or DVD’s
Remember: If you want it back, label it with name and "Troop 828".
Fingernail polish or a silver-colored Sharpie marker
can be used to mark black materials.
