The troop camped and fished in late September at Goose Island State Park near Rockport.  The fishing trip was awesome and a great learning experience.  We took a fishing ferry boat out of Woody's Sports Center in Port Aransas for half a day.  Later, some of us fished from the long pier at the campgrounds.  Although we did not catch as many fish as we had hoped, most of us still had a lot of fun.

GOOSE ISLAND FISHING TRIP

By: Travis R.

During the Fishing Trip Campout, our troop had lots of fun. Although I myself didn't catch any fish, I had a great experience as being ASPL for my first time. I did have to stay up late to help put the trailer back together, but it was worthwhile. I'd like to congratulate Trevor S. on catching the largest fish in our troop. I would also like to thank all the adult leaders for going.

have maps for the drivers on Friday.  We will be taking a fishing ferry boat
out of Woody's Sports Center out of Port Aransas for the fishing.

If you are a Patrol leader or an Assistant Patrol leader - AND YOU ARE NOT
GOING - check with those in your patrol that are going so that somebody has
been assigned to be the PL.   If you are a Patrol Leader, Assistant PL or a
temporary PL - look over the list below of who in your patrol is going.
Patrol leader or acting PL fill out the attached duty roster prior to camp.

Due to the numbers of scouts going from the older patrols, there has been a
combining of patrols for meal prep., cooking, and cleaning.  The Vikings and
Flaming Dragons will work together as will the Blazing Chipmunks and the
Anonymous Patrol.  The Jaws and Firebirds will be their own patrols.

Patrol Leaders - if you could send me a copy of your menu plan.

Jason D. - please note the increase in Viking headcount.

You do not need to bring you own fishing equipment, but if you want to - you
can, but any damage is your responsibility.  As far as I know, when you turn
17 years old you need a fishing license.  To keep a Red fish at any age you
need a stamp, so it's better to have stamp.  Adults need a fishing license
and a stamp. The stamp if you intend to keep a Red fish.  You can get a
license at Academy.

Bring a cap and sunscreen, plus mosquito spray.

Class A uniform required while traveling and Class B shirts are required
while fishing.

Scouts going:
Jaws -  - 8 scouts
Fire Bird -  - 7 scouts
Anonymous -  3 scouts
