TOMAHAWK DISTRICT TRAINING - THIS SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2008
UNIT LEADERS - PLEASE FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE IN YOUR UNIT!!
This Saturday, February 9, 2008, all adult leaders and interested parents within Tomahawk District will have an opportunity to learn more about their district and how scouting works. The Key 9 leadership of the district will be presenting information and the event will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, 3300 Austin Parkway, from 8:00 AM- 12:00 PM noon in the Family Life Center Gymnasium. Registration will begin at 8:00 AM and the program will begin at 8:30 AM.
Why is this presentation being held? Many leaders who are involved with their units activities may not have been able to learn what support role our district can provide to the unit. The district activities are run by volunteers from Tomahawk District. Those volunteers are members of our units and through their efforts provide a service to the youth of their unit as well as the youth of other units in the district. The Key 9 feels that by gaining a better understanding of district operations, adult leaders can more effectively utilize those resources for their troop, pack, crew, ship or team. Our district can continue to grow through the support of our volunteers. We will not ask you to volunteer for anything, we are trying to help you better understand what opportunities exist for service to youth in our district. We all share the goal of leading youth to lifelong values, service, and achievement.
The purpose of this presentation is two-fold. First, who are the Key 9 and what are their duties and responsibilities. Each member will give a short presentation on their areas of responsibility. Second, attendees will have an opportunity to attend one of the breakout sessions with members of the Key 9 to discuss activities within their respective roles.
Some questions that a adult leader could find answers for are:
We encourage as many members as possible to attend this training event. Even if your role is not program, membership, training, recruiting, or finance, there will be something for everyone.
Please contact myself or any member of the key 9 if you have any further questions. Visit the district website at www.bsatomahawk.org for contact information or other information.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on this Saturday!
